On June 1st 2015, our wonderful mural was officially unveiled by the Mayor outside the The Electric Theatre in Guildford. Created by Artventure Trust participants and volunteers, the mural is a tribute to the power of art to change lives.
It all began in September 2013, when The Electric Theatre contacted Artventure asking if we could design and paint a mural showing "Community". The mural is the creation of Artventure participants, their ideas and drawings. The Artworkers, along with all our lovely volunteers, carefully copied the work to bring the mural to life.
It had to be like it was "their" work, not ours, and it is! We lost count of how many hours it took to create the thirty panels of original art work. A mountain of a task, but we all enjoyed the challenge, particularly how it brought so many people together. In many ways we will miss it.
We have been so lucky in receiving funding from Guildford Borough Council and The Arts Council. Without their financial support none of this would have been possible.
Artventure would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in the process of painting the mural. We had tremendous help from local artists Christine Charlesworth and John Lord as well as our volunteers: Anne North, Sandra Hansen, Mary Ambrose, Margaret Goff, Sarah Perkins, Terri Bradford, Becky Matthews, Chris and Rosemary Dubois, Kim Moody, Clare Kuznik. Kathy Prince, Bex Burchell, Michael Steel, Verity Gillingham and Ann Lewis.
Pupils from St Joseph's School, Cranleigh, Pondmeadow School, Guildford, Godsden House School, Guildford and Philip Southcote School, Addlestone also made a terrific contribution when they visited us to add their drawings.
Looking forward to doing the next one!!! For more information about the Mural, or any of our other activities, please call 01483 30488 or email: email@example.com
